Looking for Alternatives

With the growing disillusionment with the alternative to a President widely disapproved of, and with congress approval stuck at a seemingly permanent low, the time is ripe for exploring alternatives to the standard electoral process. Some are looking for delegates on craigslist.

  1. Election vs Sortition

    Elective Leadership Democracy
    1. You get what you vote for.
    2. If you don’t vote, you get what the other guy voted for.
    3. Is complex and easily distorts definition of America’s wants and needs.
    4. Is indirectly representative due to election process leadership filtering.
    5. Is vulnerable to Robert Michels “iron law of oligarchy”.
    6. Is vulnerable to “elitist” leadership trappings.
    7. Suffers diminishing popular opinion, legitimacy, and public enthusiasm.

    Sortitioned Leadership Democracy
    1. You get what you want and need.
    2. Americans get what they want and need.
    3. Is simple, clear, definition of America’s wants and needs.
    4. Is directly, scientifically, and mathematically guaranteed “grass roots” representation,
    5. Is antithesis to Robert Michels “iron law of oligarchy.
    6. “Elitism” is not a factor.
    7. Enjoys increasing popular opinion, legitimacy, and “reality show” enthusiasm.

An elective leadership democracy combined with a sortitioned leadership chamber enjoys the advantages of both systems. The combination produces an advanced democratic structure capable of dealing with new millennium challenges.

Citizen is coach to team democracy. It’s your call, coach.
